UPSC Aspirants Demand Transparency: INSAF Leads Peaceful Protest Against Paper Leaks & RTI Ignorance

#UPSCAgainstUs: A Silent Storm at Jantar Mantar

Under the scorching Delhi sun, over 2,000 UPSC aspirants wearing black armbands stood in silent protest at Jantar Mantar on 28th June 2025. Organized by INSAF, this historic demonstration highlighted three critical grievances:

  1. Recurring Paper Leaks (2023, 2024, and 2025 Prelims)
  2. Systematic Ignorance of RTI Queries (180+ unanswered requests)
  3. Ambiguity in Evaluation (Non-disclosure of cutoffs/marks)

Why We Marched

1. Paper Leaks: A Broken Trust

  • 2025 Prelims Controversy: 37 questions matched coaching material verbatim.
  • Zero Accountability: Despite FIRs, no arrests in 2024 Rajasthan leak case.

2. RTI Blackhole

  • Sample RTI Denials:
    • “Cutoff calculations cannot be disclosed”

3. The “Mark My Mystery” Problem

  • Same answers graded differently across years.
  • No transparency in interview marking.

Protest Highlights

The 4 Silent Symbols

  1. Blackened Question Papers – Burnt to protest leaks
  2. Gagged Mouths – Symbolizing RTI suppression
  3. Blindfolded Lady Justice – For biased evaluations
  4. 1,000+ Preamble Books – Held high as a reminder of constitutional values

Authorities Respond

  • UPSC Representative (via email):
“We’re reviewing concerns raised.” (No concrete timeline)

INSAF’s 5-Point Charter

  1. Special Investigation Team (SIT) for past leaks.
  2. RTI Compliance Wing in UPSC.
  3. Ombudsman for Candidates – Independent grievance cell.
  4. Digital Answer Sheet Access – Like CBSE’s PARAKH.
  5. Leak-Proof Protocols.
