Horrific Accident Sparks Student Uprising

Last night, Old Rajinder Nagar witnessed both tragedy and extraordinary courage. After a drunk driver rammed into six pedestrians (including five UPSC aspirants) near Rau’s IAS, INSAF volunteers staged an overnight dharna demanding:
- Immediate arrest of the accused
- Permanent barricades near coaching centers
- Night traffic police deployment
The Peaceful Protest That Shook Delhi
9:00 PM – Midnight: The Standoff
- 200+ aspirants gathered with candles at the accident spot
- Police initially resisted, leading to brief tension
- 5 detained including INSAF coordinator Abhishek Singh

Behind Bars: The Unlikely Classroom
What happened next defines UPSC spirit:
✔ Abhishek Bhai taught Geography to co-detainees
✔ Group discussed Polity cases on police accountability
✔ Books & dinner smuggled in by INSAF volunteers

9:30 AM Breakthrough
After veteran leader Sh. Ram Singh Ji’s intervention, all were released without charges. Notably:
- DCP praised Abhishek’s conduct: “Rare to see detainees study IPC articles on custody rights!”
- Officers donated to victims’ medical fund
Why This Matters
1. Students = Problem Solvers
While most would panic, our team:
- Filed RTI on past accident data
- Created human chain to slow nighttime traffic
2. The Real “Toppers”
As Abhishek said post-release:
“An officer’s test begins long before the interview – it’s in how they act when no one is watching.”
INSAF’s 4-Point Charter
- “Safe Rajinder” Patrols: Student volunteers + police night rounds
- Legal Aid Fund: For victims’ treatment
- Drunk Driving Awareness: Workshops with traffic police
